These are just a few projects for our community
In 1948 the Fireman's Carnival and parade was established. After many successful years they decided to end this fundraiser in 2015. It was at that point the Rotary club of Southwick ran the event for a couple of years. In 2017, the Southwick Civic Fund took over the responsibility of the fireworks and hope to someday to bring back the carnival as well. With the overwhelming help of the community, we were able to raise enough money for the fireworks. Thank You to all who donated! Because we view this event as a community wide celebration, we feel the tradition should continue for future generations to come.
Thanksgiving for All
We started this in 2011. We serve Southwick and the surrounding hill towns. We offer a full thanksgiving meal for those in need, free of charge to anyone that comes. Our first seating is at 12:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and we can deliver locally to those who have no means of transportation that day.
For 15 years we assisted the West Springfield Park and Rec. with their Christmas program, Operation Santa. In 2014, we decided to create a similar program locally in Southwick, for Southwick, Tolland, and Granville children. In the past the family coalition of Southwick was responsible for helping local families with toys but when that organization dissolved we felt we needed to step in to help underprivileged children during the holiday season. When we first started off, we worked with the Southwick Food Pantry to reach out to residents in need. But in 2016 we branched off into our own organization and now organize the Toy Drive under our Non-Profit, Southwick Civic Fund Inc.
While checking names off your Christmas list this year, Moolicious is hoping there’s space for one more gift. We are asking for new, unwrapped toys, with a maximum value of $10. The toys will be delivered to local children just before Christmas. The ages of children we provide toys to range from newborn to 15 years old.
